Four distinct fragrances should you wish to smell nicer. Serviette is a new, independent perfumery out of New York City creating beautiful and upscale scents that reimagine the idea of "good taste". These scents are offered as a portal to explore cultural sophistication while also questioning its foundations. There is a hint of irony here that we appreciate and comes across clearly in the scents. All fragrances include an embroidered serviette for waving dramatically.

A scent for those who wear their darkness like a velvet cloak, proud and unrepentant. An alliance of rose, clove, and saffron intertwine with the resinous clarity of fir balsam sourced from the Abies balsamea tree in northeastern Canada. The heart descends into decadence—oud and patchouli create a portrait of magnificent decay, marked by a trace of diesel exhaust. This is modern rebellion.

APPLICATION

There is no incorrect way to wear fragrance, though it can be advantageous to follow some tips on how to make the most of one’s perfume.

Applying fragrance is similar to wearing any other type of garment, however ritualistic, that can help the wearer feel more confident—and enhance the longevity of the scent.

PERSON OR PILE?

At Serviette, we endeavor to bring back a sense of the old world by applying fragrance on absorbent pile—an embroidered serviette or monogrammed handkerchief, for example, which was common in the Victorian era to combat unwanted odors. An embroidered serviette comes with the purchase of every 50ml scent.

It’s important to consider the occasion and environment when choosing what type of scent to apply and when to apply it. The ideal time and place is personal to the wearer.

TIMING

Let spontaneity steer your decision to spritz. There is an unspoken power in carrying perfume in a bag at all times, to reapply as needed or to freshen up. One to three sprays will generally do the trick, but depending on how heavy the fragrance, less or more may be required. (Note that it’s normal to become “nose blind,” which may account for too liberal an application.)

Consider also timing your application to a less obvious moment in the day. Before bed, for instance, a soft mist can kickstart a full eight hours of dreamless splendor.

GEOGRAPHY

Some wearers choose to spray on pulse points where the skin’s warmth hastens diffusion—the wrists or neck, for example. But what is the point when one’s nose can’t easily reach those areas without its owner becoming the target of strange looks? A spritz to the forearm allows for an occasional sniff to recall the scent with poise.

While principles and boundaries remain sacred guides, the true sophistication lies in never becoming fully predictable. Keep them guessing.
